Ria de AlvorSupplier: A ROCHA LIFE, UNIPESSOAL LDA
The tour begins at the headquarters of the A ROCHA Association. The group then goes onto the Ria de Alvor marshland to watch birds in the surrounding farmland. Usually you can see cattle egrets and crested larks throughout the entire year, while other species only appear during certain times of the year (spring, fall migration). Flamingos are common in the marshland and are often accompanied by wading birds and other shorebirds. When the tide is high, many species find refuge in the marshland and it is easier to watch when conditions are good. It is common to see a dozen or so species of shorebirds together with seagulls and terns. In the winter, you can find ospreys or short-eared owls. We return to the starting point via the same route.
