Walking through the unknown uplands of the serra | 15th April 2018

SUPPLIER: Proactivetur

We provide a walk lasting between 4 and 5 hours in the heart of the Serra do Caldeirão, walking through woods of cork oaks and holm oaks,  through cistus and strawberry trees, and encountering rivers, in particular the Vascão, which forms a natural border between the Algarve and the Alentejo. A veritable nature sanctuary, where iconic species of Portuguese fauna live, such as the otter, the Spanish minnowcarp and the Eurasian eagle-owl.

This route also enables participants to see evidence of regular human presence in this area, in the recent past, either in the form of old water mills or when passing through almost uninhabited  hamlets and villages.
